Blogger's Challenge and Holiday Blogstravaganza

Today's Blogger's challenge is called "The same but different." We could use the same stamps or the same layout, or the same technique etc, to create two cards. One of the reason I love doing BCs is because there is so much creativity and free reign -- the topic is meant to inspire, not a hard-and-fast guideline...

So, because I have to do my own thing, I decided to use the same stamps (all from Stampin' Up!)AND the same layout to create two cards. Oh heck, I even used the same COLORS! But my cards are not the same...not even remotely. Because both cards use different techniques. It is quite amazing to see how VERY different these same cards are!

The first card uses the triple dimension Technique for the background snowflakes (February 2006 TJ Newsletter), with the trees and saying done with the Burnished Embossing Technique from the December 2007 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.
The background on the second card uses the Watered Tintz Technique (December 2006 TJNL), with a Poppin' Rub-on's (February 2004 TJNL) Tree on the front panel.
so the same...but different! Check out the other Blogger's Challenge players in my sidebar.
For today's Holiday Blogstravaganza, the following designers are playing along - check out their blogs, too, for a dose of holiday inspiration!

Nice job with the challenge. Seeing different techniques is fun and both of these look great. I think I like the 2nd card just because of the muted look it has.
