Santa Stands Alone - Bash Day 10

Welcome to the 10th day of the Technique Junkie Newsletter 10th year Birthday Bash!

How about a little holiday spirit today? The card above uses the Stand Alone Technique from the TJ Fancy Folds and Motion CD. It was so easy to make and it is only one of the 60 tutorials on the CD.
The card was made with the stamp set we are giving away today. This gorgeous Stamper's Anonymous Santa Stamp Set from the Tim Holtz Collection has large, deeply etched red rubber stamps, pre-mounted on cling:
To enter the giveaway for these stamps, just leave a comment on this blog post. The random number generator will pick one lucky winner from the comments for the stamps on Thursday. Good luck and come back tomorrow for another giveaway - remember, we are giving something away every day in the month of October!

This giveaway was won by Dana -- who did not leave her email address. If your name is Dana and you left this comment, please email me so that I can get your address:

Ever make something, then can't decide whether you like it? That's how I feel about this card.  It uses the Chalk Emboss Technique (originally from Shelly Hickox) from the December 2011 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. I cut apart the embossing folder and re-layered it on the peach cardstock; the original solid piece was just too much to use as a whole. Stamps are from the Tim Holtz line. What do you think? Chic or Bleak?

Bloggers Challenge: Color Challenge

Today's Blogger's Challenge was all about COLOR. The colors we were charged with using for the challenge are blue, moss, and orange. I happen to love these colors together, so this was an exercise in pure fun for me!

My card uses the Watercolor Distress Technique from the February 2007 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter for the background. Color can be funny sometimes -- I originally intended the Faded Denim and Orange Marmalade Distress Inks to make up my background, but when they smooshed together they came out that lovely moss color, so I ended up with all three colors on the background. What a happy accident and perfect for this technique.

I collaged over the Watercolor Distress and added the other element to complete my card. All of the stamps are from Tim Holtz. I just LOVE the style of these stamps -- but doesn't everyone?

Make sure to check out the other creations -- click on the Blogger's Challenge link on the sidebar of my blog to get a list of players this week.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!

Scrappin' Saturday: Zoo Layout

Since I scrapbook as often as I can on Fridays, I am starting a new feature here: Scrappin' Saturdays. I hope to display a new scrapbook page each Saturday from the previous week (or at least, something new to you!). I hope you enjoy this new feature!

This week's layout (you may have to click on it to make it larger and to get more detail) was of Zoo pictures from Cape May this summer. The giraffe is stamped (a close-up is on the right) using Close To My Heart Stamps. I did use the torn frame technique (December 2008 Technique Junkie Newsletter) on one of the mats, too. In addition, the title uses crackle paint from Tim Holtz -- I love this stuff. I especially like that I used my woefully neglected fibers to spruce up the title along the edge of the Z and the two O's! Here is a close-up of that:
If you are so inclined, leave a comment and let me know whether you like this new feature!

Well, that's it for today -- thanks for sharing in my scrapbook adventures!
