Broom in a Vortex

Did you ever have an idea for something that you just couldn't let go of, even if it didn't pan out the first 7 times you tried to make it work? That, my friends, is this card. I wanted an orange-on-black Vortex (using the Vortex Stencil) for my card and I didn't want to do it with embossing powder.  I sprayed through the stencil. Used Distressed Oxides through the stencil. Used some paint through the stencil. I used other media through the stencil. Nothing looked good to me...not what I wanted.

So to get here, after all that...I put VersaMark through the stencil and embossed it with an Orange Embossing Powder. Just what I didn't want to do! I was trying too hard...but knew when to get back to basics to make it work.

Doesn't the Vortex Stencil look a little like a hurricane wind? Something about this   when it is combined with the Mile on My Broom stamp just gives me that Wizard of Oz vibe.  Is it just me? I'll have to try that with the Wisdom of Oz stamps - but this time I will START with the embossing powder!

Leaves, Dragonflies, and a little bit of heaven

This is another dipping card -- ink puddles were created on a craft mat, then the Leaves and Dragonflies stamp was dipped into it.  I love the subtle color; it is a perfect backdrop for the deep red cardstock die cuts and Heaven in our Hearts sentiment.

Mandalas and the Witch Switch

The Technique Junkies Beautiful Mandala stamp has so many beautiful uses! I like this double colored effect. To make this simple, I inked the medallions with orange first, then went around around the outer edges of the stamp with black ink.Just make sure to clean the stamp off between inking and stamping. Perfect for the Witch Switch stamp, don't you think?

Wicked Spider Web

This is one of those cards that started as one thing and became another.  First I started with that background. If you look closely (and I have a close up below), you will notice the brick wall outline in shimmer. I made a brick wall background a week or so ago, and after I sprayed, I put the shimmery sprayed Brick Wall Stencil on top of this wine-colored paper. I then stamped the S578 Spider Web background over it with black ink. I then added the Wicked Halloween sentiment and a die-cut spider - and viola! A card emerged.

It always makes me very happy when I can get a two-fer like I did with the Brick Wall Shimmer. It's Wicked Good : )

Leaf Circles in ink puddles

I love dipping stamps into multiple puddles of ink to make watercolored, color-filled backgrounds. That is how the Leaf Circles Background  was made. It is soft and so pretty -- heard to believe it is the same as the image below - It is amazing how using little light-colored inks can change how the image looks:

The sentiment is from the Modern Encouragements Set

Celebrate Diversity

Today I am celebrating diversity. It is always a good thing to remember that we are all valuable, and we need to take care of and protect everyone around us. Everyone has different opinions and viewpoints, and instead of tearing each other apart, we should be celebrating and embracing our differences. Love one another. Respect one another. Listen to each other. Learn from one another. That is the only way we can be better, learn and grow.

The card today uses the Celebrate Diversity Set of 6  with the Faces of Diversity Background.  Here is a close up:

Shimmering Fall Leaves

Yesterday was release day at Technique Junkies, where we released 15 new stamps! Today's card, celebrated that release. I ussed the Fall Leaves , and colored them with watercolors, then oversprayed with Iridescent Shimmering Bliss Spray. The Better Together Sentiment from the Celebrate Diversity Set (previously released) was stamped over the top in black. This card is incredibly shimmery - it is a little hard to see in the picture, but it is gorgeous in person!

Don't forget that you will receive 15% off the new September Release stamps through September 8th! Just put them in your cart; the discount will be applied automatically.

Have a great day!
