Designer Paper Perfection Blog Hop

Welcome to the hop! If you arrived here from Tricia's Blog, you are in the right place. If this is your first stop, please take a moment to go back to the Design Team blog to start - you will not want to miss the celebration we are having today! We are thrilled to kick off the brand new Technique Junkies CD: Designer Paper Perfection

I chose to show a Tri-Panel Accordion Card. This easy card shows off your Designer Paper beautifully -- and is sinfully easy to make with the dimensions in the tutorial. It is one of the 45 techniques the CD contains. At only $14.95, it's a bargain!

Details on the CD can be found here: http://www.techniquejunkies.com/paper-perfection-cd.html

You can order the CD from that page, or from this blog (in the upper right column). CDs are shipping today!

Thank you for joining us for this hop -- I hope you enjoyed the artwork!

Welcome to the Hop!

Welcome to the hop! Today we are celebrating the Technique Junkie Newsletter's Annual CD sale - all ANNUAL CDs are just $10.00 plus postage!  This is a huge savings, and is a great way to catch up with techniques from previous issues. Each of the CDs has between 70 and 100 tutorials on them, in step-by-step, pictorial format. Information about each CD, with a list of what is on each and a link to order, is HERE:  http://www.techniquejunkies.com/cd-sale-612.html.

If you arrived from Jackie's Blog, you have reached the final stop. If this is your first stop, I suggest you start at the Design Team Blog so you can see all of the artwork. Each of the designers in the hop are celebrating by showing you a few projects from one of the nine Annual CDs.

As the final stop on the hop,
I am featuring CD9. I made three cards from tutorials on the CD, two from the June 2011 issue and one from CD 9's bonus techniques. Each CD has 10 bonus techniques on them that are only found on the CD.

The top card shows the Copic Airbrush Embossing technique. These stamps from Mark's Finest Papers were practically MADE for this technique!

The fishy card in the middle shows the Color Sandwich Technique. I changed it up just a little by switching the fish around so that the colors pop more. I couldn't resist the pearls on the eyes, either! The stamps on the fish card are from I Brake for Stamps.

Finally, the last card features the Negative Strips Technique, one of CD9's bonus tutorials. The Impression Obsession stamps used for this card -- both the front image and the two background stamps, were perfect for this technique.

I hope you have enjoyed this hop! I encourage you to consider the CDs, too, if you don't already have them. They are a great bargain for the price!

The Other Card...

Yesterday I posted a card that was started as something else -- and today I am posting the second card from the not-what-it-started as creativity session. This started as a stencil-based card -- not so much!

This card uses the Stacked Nesties Technique from the October 2011 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. I love this technique -- it is so elegant! In addition, I used an old stand-by: Cuttlebug Highlights from the Emboss or Die CD. If you click on the picture, you will see where I added greens and oranges to the texture to give it that extra POP of color. The fox was colored with colored pencils.

The stamps are from Mark's Finest Papers, A Heinrich Company from the "What a Fox" set. I love that saying!

I think you might be able to see the stacked nesties a little better HERE (click to see larger image):

Blog Hop - Day Four

Today is Day Four of the Technique Junkie Blog Hop Extravaganza (if you haven't been following along, why don't you take a look at this post),  and today we partner with the talented folks at Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company. I hope you started hopping at the TJ Design Team Blog, but if not, go there now and start fresh!

I made a Fancy Fold-out Card from the 3D and Fun Folds CD to celebrate the hop today. I was really intimidated at first by this technique -- but it was simple as pie! (I did find an error on the tutorial, though, so if you have purchased the Cd and would like the correction to the instructions, email me and I will send it to you: phuntoon@optonline.net.) This is what the card looks like opened up:

Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company, is sponsoring our giveaway today. The gorgeous stamps I used on my artwork are from the Ice and Snow set -- the set that is being given away to one lucky winner who leaves a comment on my blog! This is what the set looks like:
And don'tcha just love the icicles? They may be my new favorite winter stamps! This is what they look like all "iced-up":
Here is a list of all of the hoppers today -- such talented ladies!

Don't forget, Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrich Company also has a stamp set in the Grand Prize Package, too. To enter for today's prize, and for the Grand Prize, simply leave me a comment on this blog. I will be selecting the daily winners on Saturday, then the overall winner will be announced on Monday, December 5th. Good luck!

One last thing! We would love to see what you make with this technique, the free Double Twisted Easel Technique, or any technique from the 3D CD! If you want to play along with us, link up to the hop using the linky tool below. You do NOT need to play along in order to win any prize (you only need to leave a comment). have fun!

Bloggers Challenge - Fall

I guess it is no longer Friday -- and I missed Blogger's Challenge a little -- but I can still play along! I have these wonderful stamps from Mark's Finest Papers, after all, and I just couldn't resist using them, since the theme was Falling for You.

My main image uses the Out of the Box Nesties Technique from the Emboss or Die CD, layered using the Stacked Nesties Technique from the October 2011 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. I just love this technique! It is so grand and it really sets off the main image.  Try it!

All of the stamps and paper used on this card are from Mark's Finest Papers. I love the fox peeking out -- just so sweet!. Don't forget that you can get 15% off anything in the MFP store, too, by using the code WEEKENDER. You will love all the new fall and winter sets!

You can still join in, too -- at least until Thursday -- by entering your Falling for You themed card. Play along!

Hip to be Square

Can you read that and not have the Huey Lewis and the News Song start playing in your head? I can't!

In any case, this card is an example of the Hip to Be Square technique from the Technique Junkie Newsletter Fancy Folds and Motion CD. The CD is still available here.

I made this version just slightly smaller than the technique calls for. All of the stamps and the Cardstock used here are from Mark's Finest Papers (When you shop there, make sure to use the promo code TJJuly15 for your discount, too!).

Here is the card, opened:
 Enjoy your day!

Blogger's Challenge - Nature

Today's Blogger's Challenge was easy -- NATURE. We simply had to create something -- open to our own interpretation -- that represents nature. My take is this card using the Pierced Vellum Technique from the April 2011 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter, along with the out of the box technique from the October 2004 issue of the Newsletter. The gorgeous paper and the cute stamps are all from Mark's Finest Papers  - and don't forget -- you can get 15% off anything at Mark's Finest Papers by using the code TJMAY15. Valid through 5-15-11.

Feel free to join in the challenge today - simply enter your artwork using the links below.

Blogger's Challenge Birthday

Happy Friday! Today is Blogger's Challenge day and our theme is Birthdays. I love making birthday cards 0-- mainly because I never seem to have enough of them! Today's card is fun AND simple. This is a Hip To Be Square Card from the Technique Junkie Newsletter Fancy Folds and Motion CD. Can you believe that it only took me 15 minutes to make it?

The paper and cardstock is from Club Scrap, the Happy Birthday and inside greeting are from smARTworks, and the cattails inside the card are from Mark's Finest Papers.

I know these are not the best pictures -- it actually took me longer trying to get a good snapshot than it did to make the card!

If you have a chance, take a  look at what the other challenge players did, below -- then join in with your own work!

Giveaway -- Mark's Finest Papers

What a fun giveaway I have in store for you today! Our sponsor is Mark's Finest Papers, and we have a plethora of items for one lucky winner! The stamps used on the card above are just one of the prizes in this package.

The Masked Spellbinders Card (April 2010 Technique Junkie Newsletter issue) above uses several of the images from the clear photopolymer stamps that are part of today's giveaway. To make this card, I started by coloring the dog with Copic Markers, then I created a mask for him.  I followed the rest of the directions for the Masked Spellbinders Technique. To create the stamped background around the dog, I simply placed all of the words and small images on one acrylic block and stamped it repeatedly over the masked dog.  That is one of the great advantages of clear stamps -- PERFECT placement!  This 4" x 4" card uses the gorgeous golden paper from Mark's Finest as the base, too.

In addition to the stamps, the winner will receive 5 sheets of 4 different papers;several cat themed charms; the stamp set; and 4 different matching satin ribbons. Certainly enough to make some gorgeous creations!

As an added bonus, Faith from Mark's Finest Papers is offering a generous 15% off between now and April 4th. Simply enter the code TJ415 at checkout.

Here is a picture of the bounty the winner will receive:
To enter this giveaway, simply leave a comment on this post below. Make sure to let me know which of the Mark's Finest Images are your favorite! Leave your name and email address (try this format p huntoon at optonline dot net for phuntoon@optonline.net -- it is a way to reduce spam!) in a comment on my blog by 9am EST Monday, April 5th. My random number generator will pick someone randomly. If you are the lucky winner, I will notify you Monday and send the loot right out to you! Make sure you leave your email address though -- if you not, I may have to pick a different name, and you will miss out!  You do not need to be a Technique Junkie Member to enter the giveaway. Good Luck!

Congratulations to Phyllis Freese, the winner of this giveaway!

Technique by Design Blog Hop-April

Today is the day for our Technique by Design Blog Hop featuring the sketch from the April 2010 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  If this is your first stop, make sure that you start at the beginning at the Design Team Blog. The TJ designers have created artwork that is sure to inspire you! And, of course, there is a fun prize package for those of you who try the sketch, too!

For this interpretation of the sketch,  I used the Faux Velvet Technique from the current April 2010 issue for the large green part, Double Embossed Metal from the February 2010 issue for the panel on the left, and the Simple Whitewash Technique for the 2 thin green panels. On top of this is an image from Mark's Finest Papers -- our newest TJ advertiser. I love this frog, and I thought he was perfect for OUR HOP!

It's your turn to try the sketch! A word of caution, though, use the dimensions online, on the subscriber-only pages -- the dimensions on two of the pieces are misprinted in the paper issue. You can get there from HERE. (make sure to have your password handy). I will also send you a .pdf of the sketch dimensions if you email me, too (TJ subscribers only, sorry!). That way you can keep it with your printed piece.

Would I ever do a blog hop without a price package? NO! So this time around, create a card using the sketch and send it to the Technique Junkie egroup or post it to a public forum and email me the link. On May 15th, I will select one of the cards using the random number generator, and that person will win the prizes below:
  • One year added to their Technique Junkie Subscription AND
  • A $25.00 gift certificate to ONE vendor of their choice from this issue's participating advertisers: I Brake for Stamps; Paper Temptress; Firecracker Designs by Pamela; Mark's Finest Papers; Croppinsville; OR Twisted Papers! YOU get to choose the place to spend your cash!
You must be a Technique Junkie Member to enter a sketch card. Let's see what you can do...hop on over to your work area and get creatin'!
