August Sketch and Blog Hop!

Hi! Welcome to the final stop of the August 2010 Technique Junkie Newsletter Blog Hop. I hope you arrived here from Chris Dickinson's blog (and I hope her gorgeous Zig-Zag Accordion Card Inspired you!) , but if you didn't, take a minute or two to join us at the beginning of the Hop on the TJ Design Team Blog HERE. You won't want to miss all of the stunning artwork the designers have in store for you!

My card on the final leg of this stop uses the sketch from the August issue, of course. I used the Pencil and Ink Technique (also from the August Newsletter)  for the top panel. I also used the Soft and Sparkly Technique in the middle of the flower on the front of the panel, too! I love how soft, pretty and feminine this card turned out! The Background with the Pencil and Ink uses the Engraved Flower stamp from Alluring Impressions. I think it is one of the most versatile backgrounds I have in my stamp studio! All of the other stamps are from Stampin' Up!.

Okay, now are you ready to try the design? If you do, I will enter your name in a drawing for the following:
 This Package includes:
  • Two Rachelle Anne Miller Stamps, a collection of colored brads and matching Prima flowers courtesy of Beth Norman and Sunflowers and Dragonflies;
  • The Art Parts Stamp Set from Stamper's Anonymouse by Wendy Vecchio Courtesy of Croppinsville;
  • The Forest Life Stamp Set from Two Nancys Art Stamps; and
  • The Artsy Mini Book Shape Series - Circle  from Innovative Stamp Creations.
PLUS the winner will be featured from September 15th through October 1st on the Technique Junkie Newsletter Artwork-Only home Yahoo home page!
To enter, simply email your submission to me at phuntoon@optonline.net.  You do need to be a Techique Junkie to enter, and you need to use ONE technique on your submission to be eligible. Submit your entry by September 14th.

Thanks for playing -- I can't wait to see your interpretation of the sketch!

Weekly Giveaway: Christmas from Two Nancy's Artstamps

I love Christmas! This week we are celebrating it early with our giveaway from our friends at Two Nancy's Art Stamps. The giveaway this week is a jammed-packed sheet of Christmas sayings that you will love!

The card I made to celebrate the season today uses the "Ho! Ho! Ho!" saying from the set, along with the Santa from THIS SHEET. I thought that the Santa had a rather retro feel to him, so I used bright colors on my Embossed Crayon Resist background (10-09 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter). And I couldn't help myself -- I HAD to use liquid applique on his hat, beard and cuffs!

The sheet that Two Nancy's has supplied for us is below. These sayings pair perfectly with the sheet above, or with this sheet, too. And all of these stamps are sold individually, too! Honestly, when I was making my card, I had a VERY hard time deciding which of these luscious images I wanted to use...And don't forget that YOU GET 20% OFF any of the Christmas Stamps using the code twonancys1030. That is a good deal!

Okay, time for the giveaway! To enter this giveaway, simply leave a comment by Sunday, November 29th at 9am EST. If you are so inclined, tell me which of the Two Nancy's Christmas Images is your favorite! The winner will be selected on Monday morning (11-30). Make sure that you leave enough information so that I can contact you to let you know you won. Just a reminder that Blogger does NOT leave me your email address. A great way to do this is to leave your email address in a spelled-out way, such as "p huntoon at optonline dot net." I will use my handy random number generator to pick the winning entry. You do NOT need to be a TJ subscriber to win. Good Luck!

The winner of this giveaway is Patricia Schwartz!

Weekly giveaway: Two Nancys Art Stamps

Today I am doing this giveaway under duress.
I'm just sayin'.

Every now and then you make a card that you fall in love with. This is one of those cards for me.
To make my card, I colored the flowers from the Summer Florals unmounted stamp set from Two Nancy's Art Stamps (our giveaway sponsor) with Copic Markers. The background uses the Faux Sanding Technique from the August issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. (The little saying on the stick pin is from a set I bought in FRENCH from Stampin' Up! - roughly translated, it means "thinking of you".)

The colors, combined with the Two Nancy's Art Stamps, plus the embellishments (which took me 20 minutes to make- ouch!)....whatever it is.... It just "does" it for me.

Now it will do it for one of you! One lucky randomly-drawn winner will receive the card on the left PLUS these wonderful stamps from Two Nancy's Art Stamps. This beautiful Summer Florals set is truly one of my personal favorites from all of the Two Nancy's Unmounted Stamp sheets. Beautifully drawn and detailed, they work great with any coloring media: Copic markers, Watercolor Crayons, Colored Pencils, water-based markers, chalks... They are beautiful no matter how you color them! Here is the unmounted sheet:
;

Have you been to the Two Nancy's site recently? You should go take a look! TJ members get a free gift with purchase -- AND the August Special is FREE SHIPPING on any order of $30.00 or more. Use coupon code freeafter30 (no spaces, all lowercase).

So how do you become the lucky winner of this giveaway?
To win this set and card, simply leave a comment by Friday, August 14th at 9am est. (In your comment, You can try to make me feel better about giving away the card, if you want...) The winner will be selected on Friday morning. Good Luck!

Congratulations, Barb Presley! You are the winner of this set and my card!

Summertime, Sunflowers and FREE Copic Certification! Oh My!

Have you ever thought about getting Copic Certified? Here is your chance!!

We teaming up with Copic to giveaway one seat at the Copic Certification Class on Sunday, June 14th, hosted by Stamping Memories in Belmont, NH. Yes, that says "Give Away". As in FREE. The class -- the "LAST CHANCE New England Class" is an all-day event that will teach you the ins-and outs of working with these fabulous color tools. In order to enter the giveaway, email Sally Lynn MacDonald, instructor extraordinaire (click on her name to open an email). Let her know that you would like to enter this drawing from my blog.This class has a $120.00 value!!! *Note that this giveaway is for the class only -- transportation and lodging are not included*

I LOVE my Copics! Taking this class and becoming certified was a HUGE confidence booster -- plus I learned more than I could have imagined about Copics, what they can do and how to work with them effectively. Whether or not you win the giveaway, YOU should become certified, too!

Did I mention that this is a $120.00 value? Email Sally Lynn today!! One lucky winner will be drawn on Wednesday, June 10th. NOTE: Unlike other giveaways I conduct, comments left on MY blog will not be valid entries into the Copic drawing -- you MUST email Sally Lynn. Of course, you are welcome to leave a comment, just know that it does not qualify you for entry.

Now for a little eye candy:Since today happens to be Friday -- Blogger's Challenge day -- and today's BC is to post a summer-themed item, I thought this pretty sunflower from Two Nancy's Art Stamps would do just right! My sunflower, which uses the Out of the Box technique (October 2004 TJNL) was colored with Copics, of course. I layered my sunflower on a Double Bugged Background (technique from the June 2009 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter). I love that you can Double Bug bold, or Double Bug subtle. I think the subtly works here, don't you?

In any case, make sure to email Sally Lynn MacDonald to enter the giveaway for the free Copic Certification above. Good Luck!

It's a buggy world!

It's a bug's world.
Yup, that is for sure -- they are everywhere! Usually I am not fond of the critters, but these bugs are just too wonderful not to love.

The grasshopper (and rooted floral) are stamps from the Two Nancy's Art Stamps that I am giving away in THIS POST (click HERE to enter). I stamped the grasshopper on a piece of Splatter background. What, dare you ask, is a "Splatter Background?" Well, if you are a subscriber, that mystery will be answered for you next week. It is one of the 15 new techniques in the June 2009 edition of the TJ Newsletter.

One of the things I love about stamping the very most is that you can take stamps from ONE stamp set, or even one stamp, and use it in trillions of ways. Kathie McGuire used this stamp set as the example for one of the June Tutorials, and I have been trying to find a way to coerce her to mail it to me! I will just have to CASE her and make my own -- and then I will share it with you as a sneak peak.

Now, I am off to an evening barbeque. Here's hoping that this grasshopper is the last bug I see tonight -- unless the ones I see are, um, splattered (sorry, couldn't resist!).

Hope you are having a nice weekend!

A knock your socks off Giveaway!

Ladies and gentlemen, I have been waiting for this for weeks!

This year, one of my favorite stamp companies, Two Nancy's Art Stamps, has had issues with their website. Well, I am here to tell you that these issues are all worked out and you will find the most exquisite stamps -- and fabulous deals -- on their website: http://twonancysartstamps.com/ .

The stamp sheet you see above was their first design, so it is fitting that we give it away this week to help kick off the re-opened site. And from today until June 15th they are giving all TJ members a 15% discount on their total purchases! You can use the same discount code as is posted on the ad on my blog's sidebar: TJ2009. To sweeten the pot, if you spend $20.00 or more, you will receive a free surprise gift, too!

In addition to the gorgeous stamp set above, I will be sending the winner the card above that uses a technique called "Double Bugging" from the soon-to-be-released June 2009 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. This very easy -- yet stunning -- technique from TJ Designer Ann Clack is full of texture and color -- you will love it!

And wait until you see the pictures on the TJ subscriber-only pages for June - several of the DT members have used the stamps above and their designs are to-die-for-fab!

To enter the giveaway for the stamps above and the card, enter a comment on this post. I will accept entries until Tuesday, May 26th at 9am. Make sure to leave me your first initial and last name or some variation of your email address so that I may contact you. Good Luck!

The winner of this giveaway is Susan Best, congratulations!

Paper Temptress - Wonderful Wednesday Giveaway!

If you are a paper-lover -- and I suspect you are, because most of us who stamp love the paper as much as anything else -- you are going to LOVE the paper I have the honor of giving away this week!
Today's giveaway sponsor is The Paper Temptress. The giveaway is for a pack of 50 of the most luscious, luxurious papers that you have ever seen ( at least a $29.00 value)! This is a paper quality that must be caressed, must be adored -- must be used. Tonight, Wednesday night the 25th, there will be over 50 new sheets of cardstock added -- the same ones you will receive as the giveaway winner. Some of them will change the way you stamp and design.
There will be a party at PaperTemptress' PaperLovers group located at PaperCraftPlanet where several fabulous designers from PaperTemptress' design team will be spotlighting the new "Lustre" line and all of the new cardstock. Lots of colors, textures, and touches! And one lucky winner of the giveaway today will receive all of the new paper in a package directly from the Paper Temptress. They are so new, we don't even have a picture yet!
The card shown above uses the Paper Temptress Silver Lustre Swirl Cardstock -- one of the many beautiful papers you will receive in your package. As you can see with the close-up on the right, the ink just floats on this paper -- and coloring it is a dream! The image I stamped is from Two Nancy's Art Stamps (Don't forget you get a 10% discount there, too with this code: twonancysTJ9/6) from the Fantasy Women, Plate 1 Sheet of stamps. To show off this gorgeous paper (and the gorgeous stamps), I used the Pierced Spotlight Technique from the February 2009 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.
To enter the give away for the Paper Temptress Paper and the card shown above, simply leave a comment on this blog entry telling me that you would like to enter by 11:59pm EST on Sunday, March 1st. When you leave the comment, make sure to put your NAME in the comment -- if you enter your comment as "Anonymous" - or you just enter with your first name, I cannot give you the prize! Blogger does NOT record your email address for me, so you will need to check back to find out if you have won or include your email address in your comment so that I can notify you. A good way to do this is like so: phuntoon at optonline dot net -- it will help protect your privacy! I will have a random number generator pick one number from the comments to select one winner.
