Give Away a Day, Day 29

Again we will have two more items to give away to celebrate the Technique Junkie Newsletter's 5th anniversary!

Happiest of anniversaries, Junkies! Five years, 400 techniques. By far, the MOST extensive one-source library of step-by-step tutorials that exists anywhere. If you are a visitor and you have not subscribed, what are you waiting for? Let me give you a little incentive: New subscribers, if you subscribe to the issues from 10-07 through 12-08, I will send you the 10-07 issue Free. Free. That is a $3.00 savings! So, $21.00 for the issues from 10-07 through 12-08. Hurry, though, I am only offering this until Friday, November 2nd! There will NOT be any extensions on this deadline. US addresses only. Email me for an invoice if you are interested.

Subscribers, why don't you tell us in your comments why you love being a Technique Junkie? If each of you tells one other person today about the newsletter (and the special), that would be the best anniversary present you can give me.

Okay, thank you for allowing me to put a "commercial" up -- I figure with all these give aways, I am allowed a commercial : ) On with the give aways for today!

Our first give away is from one of the most generous sponsors of this Month's anniversary celebration -- I Brake for Stamps. I don't know about you, but this company has become one of my favorites! One lucky winner of the Give Aways will receive these two stamp sheets, and the card shown here. I Brake for Stamps has donated more than their share of Give Aways for us -- why don't you go over to Della's website and show your appreciation?

The eye-candy that goes with this Give Away uses I Brake for Stamps with the Scrunchie Technique from the October 2007 issue of the Newsletter. I stamped directly on the background and colored the image with markers, then removed some of the color with a blender pen. I like the effect- very "copic-esque."

Our next Give Away is another fabulous gift certificate from our friend Elaine at Integrity Designs. The lucky winner of this part of the Give Away will receive a $25.00 (Canadian) gift certificate to go shopping on the Integrity Designs website! With the favorable exchange rate, that is one great Give Away! Integrity Designs carries many of my favorite Stamp lines -- Innovative Stamp Creations, Time to Stamp, Non-Sequitur Stamps, Starving Artistamps, and many many more. Thank you, Elaine, for this generous Give Away! Have fun shopping, ladies.

The eye candy that goes along with this card was made using Time to Stamp images from the Beach Memoirs sheet. The background is the Watered Tintz technique from the December 2006 issue of the TJ Newsletter. The shells were colored with pastels and then covered with diamond glaze (CE) to add dimension. This card will be sent to the gift certificate winner.

Remember, there will be two winners chosen from the entries - one for each prize. Good luck! ANYONE can enter. One entry per person, per daily give away please. To enter the give away for today, simply leave a comment on this blog entry telling me that you would like to enter by 11:59pm EST on Tuesday, October 30th. No other entry methods will be included in the give away. If you email me to enter, your entry will NOT be considered a valid entry. When you leave the comment, make sure to put your NAME in the comment -- if you enter your comment as "Anonymous", I cannot give you the prize! Blogger does NOT record your email address for me, so you will need to check back to find out if you have won or include your email address in your comment so that I can notify you. I will have a random number generator pick two numbers from the comments to select two winners. Each give-away is separate, so to be eligible for a specific item you must enter that day's contest on the post where it is listed.Check back every day during the month of October for the daily giveaway -- you can enter EVERY day! A fabulous Grand Prize will be offered on the last day of the month, too. Enter today -- good luck!

Today's winners are: Kat Merryman, who has won the I brake for Stamps Sheets, and Debbie Ebat, who has won the Gift Certificate from Integrity Designs. Congratulations, ladies!

When I first joined TJ a few years ago, I didn't understand about the online portion. However, that is the part I love the best now! I am really visual, and the tutorials are just what I need. I never get tired of TJ techniques, and I have even been inspired to adapt some of them.

Pat,
What I like most about being a Junkie??

It's so much fun to play with all the materials in unexpected ways. I'm not very creative, imaginative, whatever...I'd never think to use things like waxed paper, plastic wrap, rubbing alcohol, etc. with my stamps. My "art" is so much more interesting when I use techniques from the newsletter!

I also love the swaps, whether it's the monthly 1 on 1 or the bigger ones with the newsletters. Even if I don't "play," I'm inspired by everyone's beautiful artwork.

Here is why I love the Technique Junkie's newsletter so much. I do not live in an area what has many stamping classes, especially for experienced stampers, and I love to learn the "new" techniques so the TJN fills that need for me!!
Keep up the great work, Pat, and I look forward to every new issue way before it is time for it to arrive. LOL

I'd love to entered again. :-) As one of the "original" technique junkies, I have subscribed since the very beginning. My favorite thing about technique junkies? IDEAS and INSPIRATION, baby! I love the tutorials, artwork samples, etc.

You can't go wrong with the cd's either - what's not to love about BONUS techniques? :-)

Hi Pat,
I love all of the ideas and new ways to use my current stash that you provide through the TJ newsletter. My only complaint is that now I have an even tougher time making a decision about how I'm going to create my cards! You've opened up my eyes and got me to dig things out of drawers that I've never even used. Of course, there is always more stuff that I need to try your techniques. I have so many options at my disposal now that I can barely stand it! This can be a curse and a blessing.

Michele Weber
michelew@wowway.com

I love being a Technique Junkie because I love the step by step directions and artwork examples on the website. I'm a visual learner. I keep all the newsletters together and when I find a technique I haven't tried yet in there, I go to the website and view the instructions first. Most of the time I then get it right the first try.

I'm a Crafter for Club Scrap (where I first heard about your newsletter) and I just taught at a stamp club for 8 ladies the other night. I was surprised none of them had heard of your newsletter so I told them all about it. Hopefully, you'll get some new subscribers from there.

I'd love to be in today's drawings.

Thanks!

Hi Pat, you're right! In my morning rush I did not read carefully what you had said. I thought it said to tell others.... which I have many times, (verbally) about this great web-site. So allow me to say here on your blog that TJ is the best thing that I have done for myself all year! I belong to a Rubber Stamp club in Colorado and we're called the Rocky Mountain Inkslingers. Some of the girls in the club had brought your newletter to meetings a few times and I procrastinated for a year... at least! I don't know why! We all love the techniques that we've learned and it has really enhanced our time together. Thank you so much for providing so much inspiration for so many! My goal is to provide some new techniques myself in the next year...but in the meantime... STAMP ON girls!!!!

hugs! Naomi

I love TJ and love techniques. You make it so easy for us. I have been lurking more since health has gotten a bit in my way. Since I haven't been able to stamp I am so especially enjoying the cards posted by TJ group members. I love I Brake For Stamps but Pat, you are a nasty woman for sending me there before pay day. I spotted things I hadn't seen before. The Integrity Designs is one I haven't been to but sure looks like it carries lots of companies. I could get in trouble there too. hi

I love Technique Junkies, cause it usually feeds into my NEED for MESS. Most of the techniques that I love are extremely messy. I sit at home thinking I must be a crazy stamper to want to make such a mess just creating a card...and then I read my TJ newsletter and see there are other stampers like me! The other thing I love about TJ newsletter is it also contains some special technically more difficult than I usually am willing to try techniques. BUT the good news Is I put my TJ newsletters in sheet protectors in a notebook so I can go back and check it later!

No need to put me in the giveaway drawing...as I think someone else said -- The Technique Junkies Newsletter is a prize in itself!!!

I love being a technique junkie even though sometimes I don't have the time to try everything out. The newsletter is fantastic!! Everything is easily and clearly laid out. I LOVE the paper copy. I also love all the beautiful cards people post on the online group. They allow me to vicariously live through them when I don't have time to stamp. I have referred many of my customers and online swap group friends to the newsletter. Not one has been disappointed! Thanks Pat for everything you do!

Oh yeah, and please enter me in for Day 29's fantastic give away!

Here I am in the 300's again. Look upon my computer gods! I would like to enter by 11:59pm EST on Tuesday, October 30th. I've always read through the blog but usually not over the last paragraph each time because it was always the same. hmmmmmmm.

Thanks for all your hard work, Pat. Putting together the LARGEST single source of techniques is a wonderful thing! May your ideas come to you fast and furious!

Okay, fortunately when you have a blog you can delete your comments. Now that I'm more awake. I admit I skimmed the entry this morning.

I love Technique Junkies because it's inspiration for multiple ideas for card making and when my muse is on vacation or I'm not motivated, playing in a new technique is great to get me moving again. I've already told several people about the newsletter but don't know if they have subscribed since most are online friends.

Thank-you Pat and team for a wonderful source of inspiration.

And please enter me in today's drawing.

Big Hugs,
Ruth Cooper

I love being a Junkie for all of the fabulous techniques, but also to be part of the Yahoo group and see all the awesome artwork that everyone creates. Also the TJ website is a great resource for ideas and inspiration if you're in a rut, plus all the techniques are there if you need something and you're not at home with your newsletters. It's awesome and I wish I hadn't waited so long to join! I'll be a subscriber as long as there is a newsletter!

Hello again Pat. I'd LOVE to win the first of the two give aways for today. Of course, the second give away is nothing to sneeze at either. I'd just like to win something. Being a member of the Technique Junkies is the smartest thing craft-wise I've done in many years. There are so many wonderful and new techniques each month. And it's very cost worthy too. My Mom is into card making, so I bought a subscription to the Technique Junkies Newsletter for her to enjoy. That's the only way she gets to learn new techniques, unless she comes to visit me.
Thanks again for gifting US on YOUR anniversary. You're the best!

Pat, let me count the reasons! OK, I can't count that high but a couple of the reasons I love being a junkie (thank God my mom didn't hear that!) is the newsletter - it spurs my creativity when I receive it! Another is the CD! I don't have any memory left and since I'm not a PC and can't upgrade myself (haha)I have to have references available and the CD is great because I take it with me (I'm a consultant and travel 90% of the time). Also, the website and all the work that these creative people share is incredible!! It helps me try things I might not try and in addition helps me understand things I didn't originally. So, those are just a few of the reasons! Meanwhile, please enter me for the drawings! Thanks! Tracy Smith, crazyforsu@aol.com

Why I love the Technique Junkie newsletter - although Pat has stated many times that all the techniques aren't brand new, and after extensive search on the interenet and magazines you could find them elsewhere - why work so hard? With the newsletter you get detailed instructions, color examples and even an on-line step-by-step tutorial, what more could you ask for? Oh, a yahoo group of really great people who share artwork and are really helpful!

The newsletter is also a jumping off point for me when I'm creativly challenged or have lost my stamping muse. Try a technique, give one a whirl and you'll be off to creating numerous items!

And... Pat is such a GREAT gal too and all the designers are top-knotch! I tell people all the time to subscribe - it's totally worth the $!

I am a Technique Junkie... why?

Because I love having a huge aresenal of techniques on hand or easily within reach on the web. I'm new to TJ this year and have already begun compiling a 3 ring binder to store all my newsletters and fav techniques in. It's nice to not have ot weed through the ads in magazines to find the technique you're looking for. TJ pretty much has them all!

Thank you for your hard work, Pat!

I ordered from I Brake For Stamps after I lost the first give away featuring that company. (I had to console myself somehow.)
Their stamps are made of such a good quality rubber; easy to cut and stamps beautifully. Plus I received such fast service and she threw in a bonus stamp or two.

I suppose I'll have to head back there if you don't pull my name...(big sigh)

What I like about being a Technique Junkie is that I absolutely LOVE receiving so many techniques in each newsletter! I live in a small town with a population of about 2000 people. I only know a few other stampers in this area so learning new techniques is fairly limited. The newsletters are awesome! Photos in color, access to the website to see the galleries... the only thing missing is Pat coming to my house to show me in person! :)

I'm so glad that Stacy from the RST! email group convinced me to sign up.

I'm already a subscriber and I am not commenting to win. I wanted to just comment by saying how wonderful it is to be a subscriber.

The techniques are wonderful and the group is just a great support net.

If you haven't a subscription, you're missing out. The nominal fee is like having insurance that you'll use your THINGS!

I love being a Technique Junkie because I love learning how to play well with my toys!

Happy Anniversary Pat and team, and thank you for allowing us all to celebrate with you in such a fun way.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL! Thanks for all your hard work, and for all you do.

I would love to be included in today's contest... but I can't seem to get logged into my blogger account. This is Judi Hurwitt, though, phobosgirl at earthlink dot net and I have recently signed up for my second year's subscription of the Technique Junkie.

I get so excited at the end of every other month when I know that a new newsletter is on its way. I'm like a little kid at Christmas when it arrives and I tuck myself away in my studio and read and experiment.

It means so much to me to have reached out to the stamping community after years of puttering in solitude!

Happy Anniversary TJs Day 29

Your hardcopy newsletter, the online step-by-step tutorials (especially the bonus techniques), and the annual CDs (with even more bonus techniques) are my number one resource for stamping ideas. The value is immeasurable and where else can you have a personal tutor patiently go over and over the same steps (with the same technique) while you're wearing your PJs?

Because of you, I became a "Junkie" 5 years ago. What a wonderful gift to myself that appears all through the year with techniques that I would not know about any other way. Since I'm a very visual person, the online tutorials are wonderful. Even tho the instructions are written very well for the newsletters, the tutorials online are a much needed "security blanket" many times.

If you don't belong to TJs, you will never know just what you've been missing out on. Do yourself a favor and give your self this gift today. You will never regret it!!

Thanks Pat!!

I joined Technique Junkie Newsletter several months ago. Right after I joined, my parents and inlaws needed some nursing care. Since I am retired, this job fell to me. I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed the newsletters and how it has taken my mind off of the situation here. While I haven't tried many of the techniques because my time is spent taking care of others, I am savorying the dream of doing more and more of these techniques. I love the newsletter, and I love the group. If you haven't joined, you are certainly missing out on a special treat.
